Culvert Installation Contractor
Installed Right. Sized Right. Drains Right.
A culvert that is undersized, improperly bedded, or installed at the wrong grade causes problems every time it rains. Ruck Excavating installs culverts that are sized for the drainage load, set at the right grade, and bedded properly so they stay in place and flow the way they are supposed to.
We handle driveway culverts, road crossings, drainage channel crossings, and culvert replacements on rural and residential properties across Greater Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. If an existing culvert is crushed, silted, or undersized we pull it and put in the right one.
Culvert supply and delivery, excavation, bedding, installation, and backfill are all handled by one crew. Call us and we will sort it out.

Full Scope
What We Install
Driveway Culverts
New driveway culverts installed under gravel and paved driveways. Sized for the drainage flow, set at proper grade, and bedded so they do not shift or collapse under traffic.
Road Crossings
Culverts under rural roads, farm access roads, and private roads where drainage needs to cross without erosion or road damage. Installed to handle the load and the flow.
Culvert Replacement
Crushed, silted, or undersized culverts pulled and replaced. We assess what went wrong with the old one and put in the right solution so it does not happen again.
Drainage Channel Crossings
Culverts at drainage channel crossings sized and installed to maintain flow capacity. Headwalls and end treatments where required by the site or permit conditions.
How It Works
The Process
Assess & Size
We look at the drainage area, the flow volume, and the crossing requirements. Right size, right material, right grade. Quote provided before any work starts.
Excavate & Bed
Trench cut to the right depth and grade. Proper bedding material placed so the culvert sits level and stable. BC One Call completed before any ground is broken.
Install & Backfill
Culvert set, backfilled in proper lifts, and compacted. Surface restored. Drainage confirmed flowing correctly before we leave.
Common Questions
FAQ
How do I know what size culvert I need?
Culvert sizing depends on the drainage area contributing to the crossing and the flow rate during heavy rain. We assess this when we quote and specify the right size. Undersized culverts fail. We make sure it is right.
Do you supply the culvert or do I need to source it?
We supply and deliver the culvert. You do not need to source anything. We handle the full job from supply through to finished backfill.
Can you replace an existing culvert that is crushed or blocked?
Yes. We pull the old culvert, assess why it failed, and install the right replacement. If the original was undersized or improperly installed we fix that at the same time.
Do you install culverts on rural properties?
Yes. Driveway culverts and road crossings on rural and acreage properties across Greater Vancouver and the Fraser Valley are common work for us.
Do you need a permit for culvert installation?
It depends on the location and the watercourse involved. Crossings over fish-bearing streams require permits. We will advise on what applies to your specific situation when we quote.
